Architecture Coursework
I began my college experience taking architecture classes. Each semester culminated in final models, with various stages of hand and digital renderings to produce the final result.
The first project was based on topography, using an image of bark which was then translated into linework on mylar. From the drawings I created a wood model inspired by that original image, abstracting the forms further but resulting in a physical object. From that wood model, I designed an prospective outdoor amphitheater for St. Louis’ Forest Park. The sloping forms were inspired from the first wood model, as well as my experience in the park.
The second project was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s flying machines. I chose a stingray as a precedent for my imaginary flying machine, which acted like a kite. I digitally modeled the machine, and then created drawings based off this model. I then created numerous prototypes, using a modular system, which culminated in a final model. The final model used wood, fabric, and mylar to create a flexible wing system that resulted in a fluttering movement when pulled through the air.
